Meet your Hosts
Karl is a master joiner with a deep commitment to sustainable building, while Bess brings over 15 years of hospitality experience and a warm, welcoming touch to every stay. Their passion for community and connection to the land shines through in every detail, from the eco-conscious design to the communal yet private and peaceful atmosphere of the accommodation.
When they’re not hosting, you’ll find them out mountain biking, climbing, kayaking, or camping—activities that are all within reach from the steading. Their goal is simple: to create a space where guests can slow down, reconnect with nature, and enjoy everything this incredible region has to offer
Designed with Purpose and Care
We believe in treading lightly. From repurposing high-quality pre-loved materials like oak flooring and vintage tiles, to installing A+++ energy-efficient LED lighting throughout the property, every detail has been considered with care. We support our local community by employing wonderful local cleaners. We’ve swapped out traditional cleaning products and toiletries for eco-friendly alternatives, including recycled toilet paper that helps preserve vital forests. Food waste is composted to nourish our self-sustained veggie garden, and linen is air-dried whenever possible to reduce energy use.
By choosing to stay with us, you’re not just escaping into nature—you’re joining a movement that values thoughtful living, environmental stewardship, and the beauty of simplicity.
