Explore our Ballater accommodationWhy stay in the Cairngorms?
The Cairngorms is the kind of place that rewards a slower trip. Mountains, forests, rivers, wildlife and Highland villages are spread across a vast landscape, and staying for a few days gives you time to experience more than a single viewpoint or walking route.
Mountains, lochs and forest trails
From gentle riverside walks to bigger days in the hills, the Cairngorms gives you an enormous choice of landscapes to explore. Follow the Loch Muick Circuit, take on Lochnagar or discover more walking routes across the Cairngorms National Park.
Space to switch off
Not every day needs to be packed with plans. Spend a quiet morning at your hideaway, explore a nearby village, stop for lunch in Ballater or simply enjoy the sense of space that comes with being surrounded by Highland countryside.
More than a walking destination
A Cairngorms break can combine mountain walks with castles and historic estates, cycling around Ballater, local food and wildlife watching in the Cairngorms. There is plenty to fill a longer stay without having to plan every day around the mountains.
A landscape that keeps changing
Spring brings longer days and fresh colour, summer gives you long evenings outdoors, autumn transforms the forests and glens, while winter brings crisp landscapes and a completely different pace. Each season offers another reason to experience the Cairngorms.
Stay long enough to see more than the highlights — and give yourself time to enjoy the quieter moments in between.

Absolutely loved our stay at Aileen!!! Directions were clear and it was easy to find. It was my first time staying in a tiny home and it was the cutest little house. It was clean and well stocked with everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and the pillows were fabulous. The nights were quiet and peaceful. We slept so well!! It was a short drive to the Highland Games, which is why we were there. The owners were on site when we arrived. They were so friendly and kind. Loved everything about our stay.Posted on Airbnb![]()

Bonus points for the cafetiere! Also a very pleasant surprise to see dozens of rabbits and cows. 10/10Posted on Airbnb![]()
